PURPOSE:
A Scholarship Coordinator position has been established for the purpose(s) of overseeing the various scholarship programs and opportunities available to the student body. The primary responsibility of this position will be to manage and review all student scholarship applications to determine eligibility, as well as to manage and maintain the awarding of all institutional, state, and external scholarships. This position will also be responsible for the recruitment of additional scholarship opportunities through community outreach, as well as the maintenance and awarding of employer-paid letters of credit.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as an informational resource to current and potential students regarding policies and procedures involved in applying for scholarships/awards; provide counseling regarding the financial aid application process and the requirements necessary to maintain financial assistance.
- Develop and update departmental procedures and recommend necessary changes to related university standard practices.
- Monitor scholarship programs to propose changes to and/or implementation of scholarship policies and procedures; participate and assist in developing and monitoring scholarship budgets, including awarding and reconciling of student accounts.
- Collaborate with internal departments, affiliates, and service providers to forward college initiatives and determine program needs.
- Coordinate scholarship program quality reviews and other continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure weekly review of TOPS roster to determine eligibility and award qualified students; process all invoicing and reconciliation of state funds, and submit semesterly grading reports to TOPS.
- Establish and develop a strong working relationship with the LSUA Education Department to identify eligible recipients of the LA Geaux Teach Scholarship; process all awards, invoices, and reconciliations associated with the LA Geaux Teach Scholarship Program.
- Act as the key point of contact and liaison between the LSUA Foundation and the Financial Aid Department to identify eligible recipients of all LSUA Foundation scholarships.
- Ensure semesterly review of all LSUA Foundation scholarship applications and qualifications.
- Provide notification to all recipients ofLSUA Foundation scholarships; including award amounts and retention requirements.
- Ensure yearly review of retention requirements for all institutional scholarships to determine that awards are current and appropriate for reporting.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships by initiating and responding to individual donors, corporations and businesses, community organizations, and private foundations when renewing or securing new scholarship gifts; award all scholarships received from private sources.
- Support the scholarship committee in determining student eligibility for LSUA Foundation scholarships.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation on all student scholarships awarded within a five-year minimum time frame from the last date of attendance.
- Ensure that all scholarship/award processes are in compliance with regard to both federal and state regulations and requirements; establish a vast understanding of policies in regards to university-related financial assistance programs
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree required; minimum of three (3) years' experience in business or related field.
- Prior experience in financial aid and/or award processing preferred.
- Applicants must demonstrate a strong customer service perspective; demonstrating flexibility and approachability.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are essential requirements.
- Applicants must have a proactive approach in assessing and meeting the scholarship needs of the student body.
OFFICE HOURS: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Additional hours worked as needed.
