School IT Technician – Dartford/Gravesend

Requirements
- At least 1 year of IT Technician experience in a school or college
- British passport, as stated in the posting, to pass an enhanced DBS check
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Good communication skills, including communicating with senior leadership teams and vendors
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Positive, professional, and proactive attitude
- Strong experience with Google and Microsoft environments
- Desirable: experience with Google Workspace or Chromebooks
- Desirable: familiarity with interactive whiteboards or screens
- Desirable: confidence managing wireless, filtering, and security systems
- Desirable: relevant ICT qualifications and willingness to undertake further training
Responsibilities
- Provide first-line deskside support for hardware, software, and AV equipment across the schools
- Log, manage, and resolve IT support tickets, escalating issues where necessary
- Diagnose and repair common hardware and software faults on PCs, laptops, tablets, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and printers
- Maintain and support network connections, wireless systems, and remote access platforms
- Install, configure, and deploy hardware and software in line with school policies, licensing agreements, and security standards
- Support staff and pupils with Google Workspace, educational applications, and administrative systems
- Help implement and maintain IT security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and user permissions, in line with GDPR and e-safety guidelines
- Maintain accurate IT asset records, including inventories, asset tagging, and tracking equipment and consumables
- Assist with IT projects, including equipment upgrades, software rollouts, and system deployments
- Provide clear technical guidance and basic training to staff and pupils
- Provide in-class technical assistance to support teaching and learning when required
- Ensure safe and environmentally responsible disposal of old or damaged equipment

We are Gridserve, a forward-thinking Managed Service Provider supporting schools across the UK with friendly, reliable IT support. This permanent, full-time IT Technician role is based primarily at four schools in the Dartford area, with occasional support for four additional schools in the Gravesend area. You will work as part of our wider IT team, combining hands-on support with a customer-focused approach. The role is in person, Monday to Friday, for 40 hours per week, with a salary of £26,500–£32,000 per year.
