General Statement of Duties
As a school lead/governance consultant, you work as a consultant and advisor to clients as the primary liaison for a portfolio of charter public schools. This full-time position assists the client in educating and supporting school boards to govern effectively and strategically to ensure the school’s academic performance, organizational viability and compliance with the charter contract and applicable law. The school lead/governance consultant maintains awareness of school activities and critical issues and helps develop individual school plans to facilitate oversight, promote strengths and address weaknesses.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
Three years of related experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Sound judgment.
Positive, professional attitude.
Able to build strong relationships.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel in State.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as a school lead/liaison for a portfolio of schools of the client.
Monitors and studies individual school performance in the areas of governance, academics, fiscal stewardship and compliance with the charter contract and law and reports out to the client.
Helps to develop individualized school plans to facilitate oversight, promote strengths and address weaknesses.
Communicates progress and outcomes of plans to client supervisor via weekly status reports, quarterly and annually.
Monitors that schools develop a plan to remedy identified deficiencies in meeting contractual goals, when necessary.
Maintains a pulse on school activities and on-the-ground awareness of critical issues.
Attends board meetings and conducts school site visits to build mutual trust and respect and ensures clear, concise, consistent communication of client expectations.
Conducts board candidate interviews and makes recommendations to client.
Contributes recommendations to support re-authorization decisions.
Communicates developments in the field to school operations and other staff as appropriate.
Attends professional programs to increase knowledge of current trends.
Participates in programs/conferences to disseminate best practice and resources.
Exercises discretion and independent judgment in advising clients.
Provides updates and reports to CM Schumacher Consulting as required by the President of the Company.
Significant in state travel required.

Salary Range
$78,000 to $88,000 based upon qualifications
West side or central part of the State of Michigan
