We are seeking a talented Seamstress to join our creative team at Dance Costumes Studio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in garment construction, with a passion for creating custom, high-quality dance costumes. This role is essential in bringing our unique designs to life, ensuring each costume meets the highest standards of fit, comfort, and stage-ready appearance.
Duties
- Construct, alter, and finish custom dance costumes according to patterns, sketches, and client specifications.
- Work with a variety of fabrics, embellishments, and trims, including spandex, mesh, appliqués, and rhinestones.
- Operate industrial sewing machines and specialized equipment to achieve professional results.
- Collaborate with designers and team members to ensure costumes align with artistic vision and performance needs.
- Conduct detailed quality checks on fit, finish, and durability before costumes are delivered to clients.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace while handling delicate fabrics and decorative materials.
- Assist with fabric preparation, rhinestone application, and costume adjustments as needed throughout the production process.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in garment construction techniques, with an emphasis on stretch fabrics and performance wear.
- Experience working with industrial sewing machines; hand-sewing and fine finishing skills are highly valued.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring precise seams, clean finishes, and consistent quality.
- Ability to follow patterns as well as adapt to custom design modifications.
- Excellent time management skills, capable of meeting deadlines for performance and competition schedules.
- Collaborative mindset with the flexibility to work in a creative studio environment.
- Previous experience in dancewear, costume design, or performance apparel is a plus, but not required
