Fibertek is seeking a Security Specialist Assistant, Visitor Control Center Professional to provide on-site support at the Adelphi Laboratory Center (ALC), serving as the first point of contact for visitors and personnel requiring access to the facility. This position ensures the security and accountability of all individuals entering and exiting the premises by verifying clearances, credentials, issuing access badges and CAC cards, administering finger prints and supporting VIP visits. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with personnel security, Defense Information System for Security (DISS), RAPIDS and DEERS systems to facilitate efficient processing of personnel in accordance with DoD security protocols.
The Security Specialist Assistant, Visitor Control Professional, will be responsible for staffing the ALC security desk full-time during normal operating hours. This individual will greet and process all visitors, verify identification and security clearances with established procedures. Key duties include issuing visitor badges and Common Access Cards (CACs), maintaining accurate logs of all check-ins, check-outs, badge issuances, administering fingerprints, clearance verifications and providing professional support for visits, VIP arrivals, and official taskers. The role requires regular interaction with security personnel and administrative staff to coordinate access control and respond to inquiries regarding facility entry requirements. The selected candidate will operate and maintain RAPIDS and DEERS systems to support CAC processing, use Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and other internal security systems. and must demonstrate a strong commitment to professionalism, discretion, and adherence to DoD and ALC-specific security protocols. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens and capable of obtaining and maintaining a security clearance. Prior experience in a security, military, or help desk environment is essential, and familiarity with RAPIDS, DEERS and DISS is strongly preferred. The role demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency with standard administrative and computer systems, and the ability to manage sensitive or classified information with the utmost discretion. This is a 100% on-site position based at the Adelphi Laboratory Center in Adelphi, Maryland.
Essential Job Duties:

Maintain detailed and accurate logs of visitor check-ins, check-outs, badge issuance, and CAC transactions. Ensure compliance with applicable access control policies, procedures, and protocols. Coordinate and prepare for scheduled VIP visits, ensuring appropriate security measures are in place. Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries regarding access control, visit procedures, and identification requirements. Assist in handling taskers related to facility access, security coordination, and administrative requests. Report security incidents, unusual activity, or unauthorized access attempts to the appropriate personnel. Collaborate closely with the Security Office, Military Police, and administrative teams to ensure seamless security operations. Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information and safeguard personally identifiable information (PII)Provide courteous and professional customer service to government personnel, contractors, and visitors. Monitor and restock desk supplies and badge materials as needed. Participate in periodic training or briefings related to security practices, visitor management, or system updates. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area at the security help desk
