Role Summary:
The Assistant Store Manager plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a First Storage facility. This role is ideal for someone who is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to a team environment. Working alongside the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager helps ensure the facility operates efficiently, remains clean and secure, and delivers a high-quality customer experience. This role includes customer service, facility upkeep, administrative tasks, marketing support, and financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding customer service to all current and prospective tenants, both in person and over the phone.
- Assist with leasing storage units, processing payments, and completing rental paperwork accurately.
- Perform facility tours and help customers choose appropriate storage solutions.
- Deliver “Unreasonable Hospitality” by going above and beyond for every customer interaction.
- Manage truck rentals and returns according to company procedures if service is provided at facility.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational functionality.
- Support facility maintenance tasks including basic repairs, landscaping, trash removal, and unit cleaning.
- Ensure security systems, gates, and equipment are functioning properly.
- Maintain accurate tenant records and assist with daily administrative responsibilities.
- Support execution of local marketing strategies, including social media and community engagement.
- Assist in achieving occupancy and revenue goals through effective sales and upselling.
- Help manage rent collection, assess late fees, and ensure timely financial reporting.
- Promote tenant retention by maintaining regular communication and providing exceptional service.
- Assist in planning and participating in community events and promotional activities.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by the Store Manager or Operations team.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Prior customer service experience in retail, leasing, or operations preferred.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong sales ability and comfort with upselling services.
- Willingness to perform light maintenance and contribute to property upkeep.
- Energetic and adaptable to changing tasks and company direction.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
- Must pass a pre-employment background screening.
- Previous experience in self-storage is a plus.

Work Hours:
Minimum of 20 hours per week. Monday–Sunday availability required with flexibility for occasional weekend or after-hours needs.
