We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Multimedia Designer who can tell compelling stories through both visuals and words. You will translate education and science ideas into engaging visual experiences, supported by clear, well-crafted copy.
As part of the Duke-NUS Communications and Strategic Relations team, the role is instrumental in creating visual content and short-form copy for events, corporate communications, social media and marketing campaigns across digital and print platforms. The role is also responsible for designing and producing premiums, signage, logos and environmental branding that strengthen the School's brand.
The ideal candidate combines strong design skills and hands-on multimedia production experience with good writing ability and understands how message and design work together across channels. Strong skills in design tools are required to deliver consistent and high-impact materials.
Job Description
- Proactively develop and propose creative concepts, visual ideas and key visuals for all branding projects, from the ideation stage through to final execution.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable, brand-compliant visual content that strengthens the School's brand presence in all communication and marketing efforts, events and other brand-related projects.
- Work with team members and internal stakeholders to translate communication objectives and brand strategy into creative concepts, key messages and visual storytelling across channels, including social media, so that design and copy work together.
- Write short-form copy such as headlines, social media posts, campaign messaging, captions and event materials.
- Contribute occasional short stories and event coverage, such as write-ups of School events and staff recognition stories.
- Uphold brand integrity in all content and collaterals, including visual style and tone of voice, and ensure digital content follows SEO and GEO best practices.
- Proofread and check own work for accuracy, clarity, tone and consistency before it is published.
- Manage and coordinate with agencies, printers, production vendors and external partners as required.
- Support photography and videography assignments, including event coverage, photo and video shoots, video editing and simple animations.
- Support other departments with their multimedia design needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Communication Design or a related discipline.
- Professional experience in graphic design, visual communication, environmental graphic design, content creation or a related creative field is an advantage but not mandatory.
- Actual appointment job titles will be commensurate with years of relevant experience.
- Entry-level candidates or Diploma holders with at least 5 years of relevant experience may also be considered and will be appointed as Executive if successful.
Job skills:
- A strong portfolio demonstrating concept development, typography, layout, visual storytelling and graphic execution.
- Writing samples (e.g. social media posts, articles or campaign copy) are welcome.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and strong proficiency in key design tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Canva, with a willingness to develop skills across other creative platforms.
- Versatility in developing creative solutions across different design styles and project requirements.
- A good instinct for clear, engaging writing and careful editing, with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms.
- Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure, with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Understanding of the marketing mix, social media and how content fits into broader channel and communications strategies is an advantage.
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a creative, solutions-oriented approach.
