Your Career
The Senior Manager, HR Tech Operations is a pivotal leadership role responsible for steering the team that forms the technological backbone of our People organization. You will lead a small team of professionals, overseeing the day-to-day support, optimization, implementation, and maintenance of our HR systems, with a primary focus on Workday. The team also has a north star of implementing AI and Automation to simplify and streamline administrative processes. This is an opportunity for a strategic leader to drive the future of HR technology at Palo Alto Networks, leading critical automation initiatives, enhancing core processes, and providing the expert technical guidance necessary to support our global People team and the wider organization.
This is an in office role in our HQ ( Santa Clara, CA)
Your Impact
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of HR technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and operational excellence
- Workday Enhancements & Roadmap: Partner with IT’s PeopleTech team, who own the Workday ecosystem, to provide day-to-day support to HR, People Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Employees and Manager, identify enhancements, develop detailed technical requirements, align on prioritization and roadmap,and support testing and implementation
- Workday Support: Oversee functions such as supervisory organization management, advanced reporting, position management troubleshooting, Workday Recruit troubleshooting, and the execution of EIB loads to ensure system integrity and efficiency
- AI, Automation & Innovation: Champion the future of HR automation by leading initiatives with tools like Gemini/Gems, Glean, UI Path, agents and others and developing robust process maps and governance to support automation opportunities. Partner with IT on AI efforts such as improving Palo Alto’s employee co-pilot and driving further adoption and automation
- Data & Analytics: Provide critical insights to leadership by developing and maintaining key metrics and operational dashboards in Workday and Tableau
- HR Operations Enablement: partner with HR Operations teams to drive AI and automation adoption, improve technical acumen, and enable the HR Operations teams to significantly improve efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications
Your Experience
- 10+ years of progressive experience in HR Operations, HRIS, or a related HR technology field with hands-on experience in developing and implementing automation and AI solutions to challenges facing HR Operations
- Proven experience in a management role, with a strong track record of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical teams
- Expert-level, hands-on experience with the Workday ecosystem, including deep functional knowledge of Workday HCM, Workday Recruit and related tools (Workday reporting, Prism, etc)
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to build complex analyses, models, and automations using tools like Google Sheets or Excel
- Demonstrated experience with AI and automation, including writing effective prompts for generative AI systems (e.g., Google GEM, ChatGPT, Glean). Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools is a significant plus
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to drive change and build consensus across diverse, cross-functional teams
- A mindset of applied disruption, with the curiosity to challenge the status quo and a passion for improving and automating processes with modern technology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; adept at identifying root causes, critically reviewing data, and implementing practical, scalable solutions
- A results-oriented approach, with a history of pushing yourself and others to achieve challenging goals and deliver on commitments in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with an unwavering commitment to data integrity and quality
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and detailed technical requirements documentation

Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $151000/YR - $244000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
