The Basics of a Senior Network Engineer:
- Full-Time, Exempt
- Schedule: Monday - Friday. Flexibility required for after-hours and occasional weekends for projects.
- Location: Onsite with potential remote work on Fridays after training is completed.
What you'll do as a Senior Network Engineer:
In this role you will serve as the primary subject matter expert on the Credit Union’s LAN, MPLS, SD-WAN, internet, network security (NAC, CASB), enterprise wi-fi and cloud services connectivity. Additionally, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, installing, and maintaining all equipment and technologies pertaining to network connectivity and security. The network engineer will also be responsible for setting up and maintaining network monitoring, alerting and analytics for the above.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth technical troubleshooting and diagnosis of all network components. Identify network related issues and correct deficiencies.
- Coordinate with network service providers to schedule preventive maintenance, upgrades, repairs and maintain detailed documentation on the same.
- Configure secure local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), enterprise wi-fi components, including firewalls, routers, switches, to meet business requirements, ensure compliance and scalability.
- Implement and maintain network performance monitoring, alerting and analytics solutions.
- Lead physical and logical voice and data network planning and design. Identify resources to address performance, reliability, and security requirements.
- Configure and maintain the network for optimal voice and video over IP.
- Respond immediately to trouble calls regarding network outages and performance degradation.
- Configure and maintain secure connectivity to all credit union partners, including connectivity to and within cloud services such as Azure, AWS, etc.
- Develop and maintain detailed network documentation. Cross train IT team members on the same to ensure continuity of network support.
- Test all out of band and back up network connections on a quarterly basis to ensure business continuity.
- Assist with development of policies related to the network to ensure adherence to regulatory guidance.
- Lead and support business continuity exercises.
- Assist with gathering data, proposals and developing documentation to support the IT budget process.
- Complete vendor due diligence, regulatory exam, and audit related activities in a proactive and timely manner.
- Stay current with advancements in technology and recommend ways to improve security and availability of the network.
- Provide helpdesk assistance when needed.
- Comply with the credit union Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Policy and Anti Money Laundering and Member Due Diligence Procedures. The BSA training is to be completed within 90 days of employment and annually thereafter.
- Complete compliance and career development training as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This is an exempt role which will require a time commitment beyond a normal 40-hour work week including after hours, weekends and holidays to: support on-call IT team members when needed for planned and unplanned events.
Qualifications
Must Haves for a Senior Network Engineer:
- Skills: Tech Fluency, Attention to Detail, Data & Program Analysis, Creativity, Verbal & Written Communication.
- Experience: 5 years + configuring and maintaining Cisco and Meraki routing, switching and security equipment. SD-WAN, CASB, VPNs, MPLS, VOIP, OSI layers 1-5
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
