Job description

Senior Project Manager IT

Job Title: Senior Project Manager IT

Department: CMC Digital & IT, CMC Product & Process Development, Global Manufacturing & Supply

Location: Bagsværd (Greater Copenhagen area), Denmark

Your impact begins here

As Senior Project Manager IT, you will lead strategic digital projects that shape how Novo develops and manufactures new medicines. A key focus will be establishing a common, standardised CMC data foundation – harmonising how critical product, process and analytical information is represented and made available across CMC.

You will turn this foundation into business value through reusable data products, Digital CMC and AI, while helping prepare CMC for a future of increasingly structured digital regulatory submissions. Your role is to turn this ambition into delivery – bringing business, science and technology together and helping new treatments move faster towards the people who need them.

What you’ll bring

You are a strategic project leader who is at home where business and technology meet, and who knows how to deliver in a regulated environment. You bring:

  • A master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience leading large-scale IT, digital transformation or data programmes.
  • Strong experience with data governance, master data management, information models and enterprise data standards.
  • A proven track record of leading cross-functional programmes involving IT, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Product Development and Data Engineering teams.
  • Experience managing scope, budget, timelines, resources, vendors, risks and stakeholder engagement end to end.
  • A strong understanding of both Agile and Waterfall delivery methods.
  • Excellent leadership, change management, communication and influencing skills – and the drive to get things done and adapt when priorities change.

Useful, but not essential:

  • Pharmaceutical or biotech experience, particularly in CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing & Controls), laboratory, manufacturing, quality or GxP environments.
  • Experience with laboratory and manufacturing data environments, including LIMS, CDS, MES or similar systems.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical data standards and emerging structured regulatory submission initiatives, for example ICH M4Q(R2), IDMP, Pistoia CMC Process Ontology or Allotrope.
  • Exposure to Enterprise Architecture, AI-enabled data foundations or digital regulatory submissions, or involvement in industry organisations such as the Pistoia Alliance, BioPhorum or the Allotrope Foundation.

What you’ll do

You will hold end-to-end project management responsibility – from roadmap and analysis to delivery and hypercare – for strategically important initiatives in CMC Digital & IT.

  • Lead the rollout of data harmonisation across CMC, initially with a strong focus on analytical and laboratory data, and drive the provisioning of high-quality, reusable data products, keeping delivery on track for scope, cost, resources and quality.
  • Drive data standardisation and governance that creates a scalable, sustainable foundation for Digital CMC, AI and the transition towards increasingly structured digital regulatory submissions.
  • Manage roadmaps actively, spotting impediments and potential delays early and acting before they slow the team down.
  • Own stakeholder management, budgeting and communication towards the line of business, aligning business and IT around clear priorities.
  • Coordinate product development requests between users, vendors and our IT development partner.
  • Lead, guide and coach your project team as a servant leader, supporting an agile way of working.

Who you’ll work with

You will join CMC Digital & IT, which sets the digital direction for CMC Product & Process Development – including the implementation of a common data hub. CMC bridges the science of Research & Development with the execution of production, and is a community of more than 2,500 colleagues across the globe.

Based in Bagsværd, you will be part of a diverse team of project managers, product owners, information modellers and data engineers. You will work closely with the CMC users and technologies that take our pilot manufacturing processes to the next level, as well as with colleagues across IT, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Product Development and Data Engineering, and with our IT development partner and vendors. Working across sites and functions, you will create clarity, speak up when things stall and keep decisions moving.

You will report to Thomas Lønborg-Jensen, Director, CMC Digital & IT.

What you can expect here

You will take on work that matters today and for years to come: securing production efficiency and speed while building the data foundations for the next generation of digital and AI-driven operations. You will be trusted to own delivery and make your voice heard, with clear expectations and a culture that recognises results.

As the programme grows, so can you. You will build new skills across the value chain – from development to production – and grow alongside colleagues on the job and through relevant learning offerings.

What we offerAt Novo, you will join a global healthcare company with a distinctive culture and a strong track record. We offer continuous learning, career development and benefits tailored to your life and career stage.

We are a global healthcare company, founded in 1923 and headquartered just outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Our purpose is to drive change to defeat serious chronic diseases, built upon our heritage in diabetes. We do so by pioneering scientific breakthroughs, expanding access to our medicines, and working to prevent and ultimately cure the diseases we treat. Our story began over 100 years ago when two small Danish companies started producing the revolutionary new drug, insulin, which had just been discovered by Canadian scientists. These companies, Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium and Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, were established by individuals driven by a common goal: to make life-saving insulin available to people with diabetes in Denmark and beyond. August Krogh, a Nobel laureate, and his wife Marie, a physician whose own diabetes fueled their quest, played a pivotal role in bringing insulin production to Denmark, leading to the founding of Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium in 1923. Shortly after, in 1925, the Pedersen brothers, former Nordisk employees, established Novo Terapeutisk Laboratorium, creating a dynamic of competition and innovation that would characterize the Danish pharmaceutical landscape for decades. After years of parallel growth and groundbreaking research, these two entities merged in 1989 to form Novo Nordisk A/S, a company that has since expanded rapidly. Today, we are a world leader not only in diabetes care but also in obesity care, haemophilia care, and therapies for rare endocrine disorders. Our commitment extends beyond developing innovative medicines; we strive to make them accessible to patients worldwide. We employ more than 77,000 people across 80 offices globally and market our products in approximately 170 countries. The Novo Nordisk Way, our set of guiding principles, is rooted in the vision of our founders and continues to inspire our thousands of colleagues. We are dedicated to applying our passion, skills, and commitment to defeat serious chronic diseases that affect hundreds of millions of people and represent some of the most urgent global health challenges. Our U.S. headquarters is located in Plainsboro, New Jersey, playing a vital role in the life sciences industry through sales, marketing, and clinical trial management for all Novo Nordisk U.S. products. We are also significantly investing in manufacturing capabilities, including a $4.1 billion expansion in North Carolina, to meet the growing demand for our diabetes and obesity medications.
