Senior Solutions Engineer (f/m/d) - Texas, USA
Job description
How you will make an impact:
As a Senior Solutions Engineer at Hygraph, you'll be the trusted technical and strategic partner to engineering and content leaders at organizations evaluating Hygraph. This is a US-based role focused on prospects and customers in the US market, and you'll collaborate closely with Hygraph colleagues across the globe. You'll lead with discovery, not features: understanding what a prospect is trying to achieve, then designing and proving a solution that gets them there.
This is a hybrid role. About 70% of your time will focus on pre-sales solutions engineering: running discovery, shaping solutions, delivering tailored demos and workshops, and leading Proof of Outcomes engagements. The other 30% carries into post-sales solutions architecture, guiding new customers through key architecture decisions and early implementation so the outcomes we commit to in the sales cycle are the outcomes customers achieve. Across both, you'll work closely with Account Executives, CSMs, Product, and our Forward Deployed Engineers, who build hands-on alongside strategic prospects and customers.
Reporting to the Director of Solutions & Support, you'll help shape how pre-sales and solutions architecture work together at Hygraph as we scale. This is a customer-facing role built on a software engineering foundation, not a software development position.
What you'll work on:
Pre-sales solutions engineering (about 70%)
- Lead technical discovery to uncover a prospect's business goals, current architecture, and definition of success, and connect them to measurable outcomes.
- Design and present solution architectures tailored to each prospect's stack, content operations, and constraints.
- Build and deliver demos that tell the prospect's story, including developing web front-end prototypes with modern frameworks.
- Scope and run Proof of Outcomes engagements (Hygraph's approach to proofs of concept), agreeing clear success criteria with the prospect and partnering with Forward Deployed Engineers on hands-on build work.
- Lead technical workshops and deep dives for executives, architects, developers, and content teams.
- Own the technical win in late-stage deals, including security, scalability, integration, and migration questions.
- Partner with Account Executives on account strategy, qualification, and deal planning.
- Bring field insight back to Product and Engineering on what prospects need and why we win or lose.
Post-sales solutions architecture (about 30%)
- Drive a clean handoff from sales to onboarding, carrying agreed outcomes and success criteria into implementation.
- Advise new customers on architecture, including content modeling, schema design, localization, frontend choices, and third-party integrations.
- Partner with CSMs and Forward Deployed Engineers on complex technical engagements and expansion opportunities.
- Contribute to reference architectures, best-practice guidance, and reusable assets used across the customer lifecycle.
- Document complex customer cases to strengthen the team's playbooks.
What we expect from you:
- At least 5 years in a technical, customer-facing role such as solutions engineering, sales engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting, including at least 3 years in B2B pre-sales for an API-first or developer-focused SaaS product.
- Strong working knowledge of GraphQL and modern web architectures (React, , Svelte, and similar), plus composable and headless approaches.
- A consultative approach: you lead with questions, frame conversations around business outcomes, and can articulate the value of a solution, not just how it works.
- Experience scoping and running proofs of concept or pilots with defined, measurable success criteria.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and adapt your message to executive, technical, and editorial audiences.
- Solid grasp of content strategy and content operations to guide customers' content schema decisions.
- Business acumen: you can assess and prioritize pain points, identify root causes, and align solutions with functional and non-functional requirements and broader strategic goals.
- Comfort working cross-functionally across Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and a knack for creative problem-solving.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Comfort with occasional travel to meet prospects and customers in person.
- Demonstrated experience working remotely across distributed, global teams and time zones.
Bonusqualifications
- Experience with headless CMS, DXP, or composable architecture platforms
- Experience selling into enterprises with complex buying committees, procurement, and security reviews
- Experience working alongside forward-deployed, professional services, or delivery engineering teams
- Familiarity with AI tooling, LLM-driven content workflows, or MCP
- CMS migration experience
- Experience consulting on enterprise architecture or digital transformation strategy
- Working knowledge of design systems, design thinking, or service design
If you meet some but not all of these requirements, or come from a non-standard background, please apply anyway. This role calls for a broad mix of skills and experience.

Skills mentioned

At the heart of Hygraph is a story of innovation born from necessity. Co-founders Michael Lukaszczyk and Daniel Winter, both seasoned developers, met in 2015 and quickly bonded over their shared frustrations with the limitations of traditional content management systems. They recognized that in an era of explosive multichannel app development, existing CMS platforms couldn't keep up. The rise of mobile, IoT, and countless other digital touchpoints demanded a more flexible, scalable, and developer-centric approach. This shared vision led them to harness the power of a disruptive new technology: GraphQL. They set out on a mission not just to build another headless CMS, but to fundamentally rethink content infrastructure, creating the world's first GraphQL-native platform designed to eliminate the pain points of modern digital product creation. This pioneering spirit is deeply embedded in the company's culture. Hygraph is a remote-first and globally distributed organization, with a vibrant team hailing from over 18 countries. This international composition isn't just a logistical detail; it's a core part of their identity, fostering a rich, diverse, and inclusive environment. The culture is built on a foundation of trust, respect, and empathy, where collaboration is paramount. Team members, whether they are parents, working students, or seasoned entrepreneurs, are united by a passion for building a world-class product. The company champions a healthy work-life balance, adaptability, and continuous learning, providing the space and resources for individuals to take on significant responsibility and make a tangible impact. It's a place where people are empowered to do their best work, from wherever they are, bound by a shared commitment to transparency and ownership. Hygraph has evolved beyond its origins as a headless CMS into a comprehensive, federated content platform. The team's ambition is to solve the growing complexity of the modern tech stack, where content and data are often siloed across numerous systems. By enabling organizations to unify content from any source—be it other CMSs, PIMs, or databases—into a single, streamlined API, Hygraph empowers teams to build sophisticated digital experiences faster. This 'backend agnostic' approach allows developers the freedom to build with their favorite tools while giving content creators the autonomy to manage and deliver content seamlessly. They are not just providing a service; they are building the content layer for the next generation of the internet, championing a future where digital experiences are composable, scalable, and truly unified.
