Venture House is dedicated to supporting the wellness and recovery of individuals living with mental health challenges. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative Social Practitioner for our Brooklyn Clubhouse program.
Primary Responsibilities:
The cornerstone philosophy of the Clubhouse movement is that meaningful activity is restorative. Therefore, the primary responsibility of a social practitioner is to engage Clubhouse members in the “Work Ordered Day” (WOD). As a Social Practitioner in our Culinary Unit, you'll play a key role in supporting our members' growth and development through culinary-based programs and activities. You will:
- Facilitate member engagement in the culinary workspace and help prepare 60-70 meals daily
- Develop and manage programs that teach culinary skills and promote wellness
- Support members in setting and achieving their culinary-related goals
- Collaborate with members to plan meals and special events
- Provide a supportive and engaging environment for members
- Provide case management
- Connect members with needed services, including health, mental health, nutrition
- Participate in Crisis intervention
- Document activities in the electronic health record
Hours are typically 9 -5 Monday-Friday, with occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.
The ideal candidate is a passionate and enthusiastic self-starter with strong problem solving and engagement skills. Candidates must have
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field.
- Strong Computer Skills
- Internet and smartphone knowledge and access
- Culinary experience is a plus.
- Driver’s license is a plus
- Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
