Overview
The Social Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting individuals and families in navigating social services and resources. This position involves working closely with clients to assess their needs, provide guidance, and facilitate access to essential services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in social work, crisis management, and behavioral health, demonstrating a commitment to improving the lives of those they serve.
Duties
- Conduct assessments to identify client needs and develop personalized service plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and management support to clients facing immediate challenges.
- Offer addiction counseling and support for individuals struggling with substance use issues.
- Facilitate access to behavioral health resources and services.
- Assist clients with navigating social welfare programs, including Section 8 housing assistance and Medicare.
- Mentor clients in workforce development initiatives, helping them build skills for employment.
- Supervise and guide junior staff or interns in providing effective social services.
- Collaborate with community organizations to enhance service delivery and resource availability.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, progress, and outcomes.
Experience
- Proven experience in social work or related fields is preferred.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques and motivational interviewing strategies.
- Experience in addiction counseling or working within behavioral health settings is advantageous.
- Background in childcare or child welfare services is a plus.
- Supervising experience is beneficial for candidates looking to lead teams or mentor others.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $24.06 - $28.98 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 32 per week
