The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the classroom environment. Duties
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Support students in understanding and completing assignments, ensuring they grasp key concepts in subjects such as math and literacy education.
- Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment through effective classroom management strategies.
- Collaborate with educators to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring specialized support.
- Provide care and supervision during activities, including recess, lunch, and other school events.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's education.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education practices, including deaf education and Montessori methods.
Skills
- Experience working with children in educational or childcare settings is essential.
- Knowledge of deaf education practices is highly desirable.
- Strong classroom management skills to effectively support diverse student needs.
