Speech and Debate Instructor for After-School Program in Bay Area, Peninsula

EASE Education, an after-school enrichment organization is offering various programs and looking to hire a Speech and Debate Instructor as an independent contractor for Fall 2022 classes (and beyond) across the Bay Area Peninsula Schools, Parks, and Recreation Center located at Menlo Park, Burlingame, Belmont, San Carlos, and Redwood City.
Speech and Debate Instructor for after-school programs are responsible for planning and leading structured public speaking and debate lessons for students in grades 1-8.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver lessons in speech and debate skills.
- Excellent written and communication skills.
- Successfully lead after-school activities with groups of up to 10 students for grades 1-8.
- Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use the information to adjust teaching strategies
- MUST be available, on-time, and prepared to work during assigned hours, for three hours a day, between 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM (Exact hours vary depending upon location).
- Availability to work on site at schools for classes based on assigned schedule
- Expected to check in and be on campus by 15 minutes prior - please allow time for transport and any unforeseen delays
- Fingerprint clearance and Background check is required
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination documentation is mandatory
Qualifications and Skills
- BA in Communication Studies, Education, English, Drama, or related fields; MA a plus
- At least 1 year of prior experience teaching or facilitating group activities with students
- Previous competitive experience in debate and/or speech preferred
- Must be an excellent teacher who is ethical, timely, and passionate about young people and changing the world through education.

Benefits
- Pay is $45-50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
- Monday to Friday: must be available from 2.30 to 5.30pm
