Skills mentioned

NextEra Energy's story begins in 1925 with the formation of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL). For decades, FPL focused on providing electricity to the growing state of Florida. A significant turning point came in 1984 with the establishment of FPL Group, which served as the parent company. The 1990s marked a period of strategic diversification and expansion beyond Florida. In 1998, FPL Group created FPL Energy (which would later become NextEra Energy Resources) to spearhead energy ventures outside of FPL's regulated service territory. This move signaled a growing ambition to become a national energy player. The early 2000s saw FPL Group actively exploring mergers and acquisitions, further indicating its growth trajectory. A pivotal moment in the company's journey was the rebranding in 2010 from FPL Group to NextEra Energy, Inc. This change reflected a broader vision and a significant commitment to clean and renewable energy. NextEra Energy Resources rapidly evolved into a leader in renewable energy generation, particularly in wind and solar power, across the United States and Canada. While FPL continued its crucial role as a major regulated utility in Florida, NextEra Energy Resources became the growth engine for the company's clean energy ambitions. This dual strategy allowed NextEra Energy to maintain a stable, regulated utility base while aggressively pursuing opportunities in the burgeoning renewable energy market. Today, NextEra Energy stands as a Fortune 200 company and one of the largest electric power and energy infrastructure companies in North America. It is recognized as the world's largest generator of renewable energy from wind and solar and a leader in battery storage, demonstrating a profound transformation from its origins as a regional utility to a global clean energy powerhouse committed to shaping a sustainable energy future.
