Position Summary
Brief Description of PSU/School/Dept
Academic Affairs (OAA) is the central administrative office tasked with promoting the institutional academic mission, programming and policy implementation, support programs for personnel and students, academic fiscal management, and is responsible for collective bargaining with the American Association of University Professors and the American Federation of Teachers Union. Academic Affairs is the home for the Registrar’s Office. Together our unit collaborates with the campus and external communities to achieve the academic mission and vision of the University.
Position Summary
The Student Information Systems Analyst reports directly to the Registrar’s Office (RO) in support of program areas that provide information and services to current and returning students in order to facilitate their PSU enrollment and post-enrollment record-keeping. The Registrar’s Office is made up of four functional areas; Registration and Records, Academic Scheduling, Degree Requirements, and Veterans; whose purpose is to maintain student class schedules and registration methods, as well as providing scholastic progress reviews, grade reports, degree eligibility and clearance, secure academic records, transcript issues and enrollment verification. The Registrar’s Office also publishes university policies and regulation and prepares necessary reports and studies associated with these processes.
This position works as part of the SIS Tech Team and is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the critical office systems that support student success (Banner Student Information System, Hyland document imaging system, Ad Astra Academic Scheduling system, CollegeSource degree audit system, Transferology, Parchment transcripts, etc) including the research, analysis, design, and testing of innovative technologies and business processes that will enhance and support systems related to the use of student data.
This position works as part of the SIS Tech Team and is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the critical office systems that support student success (Banner Student Information System, Hyland document imaging system, Ad Astra Academic Scheduling system, CollegeSource degree audit system, Transferology, Parchment transcripts, etc) including the research, analysis, design, and testing of innovative technologies and business processes that will enhance and support systems related to the use of student data.
The Student Information Systems Analyst participates in all stages of development where there is a need for or impact to student data to identify areas of improvement, analyze system issues, recommend changes, provide data to guide decisions and implement functional solutions for existing systems and/or new integrated systems; includes using SQL programming to troubleshoot system issues, writing complex data queries to leverage Banner-DARS reporting for RO operations and assessment and developing program specifications for enhancements.
This position is also responsible for ensuring the functionality and integrity of the Banner SIS database by establishing and maintaining data rule tables, extracting and loading data, maintaining student security, and troubleshooting as required.

Minimum Qualifications from Classification
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in systems analysis and related programming support functions generally obtained by a bachelor’s degree in computer science, or an equivalent amount of training and applied experience.
Additional Minimum Qualifications for this Position
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 2-3 years experience with large-scale relational database system
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in analyzing system and user needs to enhance business processes
- Programming in SQL; select statements and inner/outer joins
- Accurate, consistent attention to detail
- Strong analytical abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using student systems; Ellucian Banner Student Information System, Hyland OnBase, CollegeSource, and/or Ad Astra
- Experience using reporting tools; such as Cognos, Crystal Reports, and/or SQL Developer
- Experience in a Registrar’s office
- Familiarity with evolving technologies
- Web Programming Languages; HTML, CSS, and/or Java Scripting
- Experience developing end user and process documentation.

Work Days/Hours
Monday through Friday, 8a.m. to 5p.m.
Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting salary rate for this position will be $29.82 per hour.
The starting salary may be negotiable above this rate, however it will be dependent upon the knowledge, experience, skills and abilities of the chosen candidate, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
PSU’s excellent benefits package includes 95% premium paid healthcare; a generous retirement and vacation package; and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse or dependent at any of the Oregon Public Universities
