Job Description:
To be eligible to apply for this position, you must be a current student enrolled at McDaniel College. This position is open to both work study and campus employment students.
- Position: Mascot Program Student Worker
- Revision Dates: 3/2021
- Reports to: Alumni Engagement Specialist
- Department: Alumni
- Salary Grade: Maryland Minimum Wage
- FSLA Status: Non-exempt
- Location of Position: Main location is Elderdice Hall, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157. Location of appearances will vary based on requests.
- Duration of Appointment: 8/6/2025-5/20/2026
- Schedule: Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
- Evaluation Procedures: Student workers are evaluated on a continuing basis
Scope: Provide support to mascot program, perform as the mascot at College sponsored appearances both on and off campus, foster and instil McDaniel pride.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill requests for mascot both on and off campus.
- Communicate with supervisor in timely manner.
- Instill sense of McDaniel pride and enthusiasm.
Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude
- Good customer service skills and good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to wear mascot suit for extended periods of time
Physical Characteristics:
This position requires standing and moving for long periods of time, as well as wearing a mascot suit for extended periods of time with scheduled breaks appropriate for the appearance. The overall setting of the job fluctuates with each mascot request.
