Magnitude Capital, a dynamic alternative investment firm, is looking for a highly motivated and versatile Support Engineer to join the firm's Technology team. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering support, desktop IT support, and systems support. Responsibilities will vary day-to-day and include supporting specialized applications, helping with IT system configurations, providing end user support, monitoring automated data processes, and assuring data quality. A strong technical foundation, a service-oriented mindset, and an understanding of financial markets are key to succeeding in this role.
What you will do:
- Data engineering support:
- Assist with the ingestion, validation, and monitoring of market and operational data.
- Write basic to intermediate SQL queries for troubleshooting data issues and supporting reporting needs.
- Manage and troubleshoot FTP/SFTP file transfers and connectivity.
- Debug through custom C# and Python applications.
- Work with users to provide desk-side support, resolve issues, and address requests.
- Monitor and maintain critical systems and process automation; troubleshoot issues with applications, data, servers, workstations, mobile devices, accounts, and access control.
- Manage users, security groups, and computers with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for internal systems and processes.
- Collaborate on cross-functional projects such as system upgrades, automation initiatives, and new application rollouts.
- Provide support for commonly used applications, including Microsoft 365, Bloomberg terminal, and VPN.
What you have:
- 2–4 years of technical support or application support experience.
- Experience supporting end user applications and devices (PCs, iPhone, and Android).
- Knowledge of Windows 10, Microsoft 365 products, SharePoint, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- Experience with SQL and log analysis that aid in troubleshooting.
- Experience with C#, PowerShell, and/or Python.
- Prior experience working with investment data in a financial services firm.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to think analytically and solve problems logically.
- Effective communication with both technical and business users.
