Surgery Center Administrator

Position Summary
The Surgery Center Administrator is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the ambulatory surgery center, ensuring excellence in patient care, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and physician and staff engagement. This position oversees daily operations, strategic planning, and organizational development, while fostering a culture of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Direct and coordinate the daily operations of the facility, ensuring safe and efficient surgical services.
- Serve as liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and all facility departments.
- Report pertinent activities and performance metrics to the Governing Board regularly.
- Ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory requirements.
- Lead monthly operations reviews in partnership with Athena Medtech/USPI leadership.
Business & Financial Management
- Oversee financial performance, including budget development, purchasing, and staffing plans.
- Monitor revenue cycle, payer mix, and cost-control measures to ensure financial sustainability.
- Negotiate external service and vendor contracts to maximize value.
- Develop and implement growth strategies, including new services and marketing initiatives.
Clinical & Quality Oversight
- Partner with the Medical Director to evaluate and expand surgical services.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting body standards for clinical care.
- Lead continuous quality improvement (CQI), infection prevention, and patient safety programs.
- Support surgical equipment maintenance and functionality.
People & Culture
- Manage and mentor all levels of staff and department leaders, promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Conduct performance evaluations, oversee employee relations, and ensure fair disciplinary practices.
- Lead staff meetings, communicate goals and priorities, and foster a culture of engagement and excellence.
- Provide professional development and training opportunities for staff.
Medical Staff Relations
- Oversee medical staff credentialing and compliance.
- Serve as liaison with the Medical Executive Committee, supporting physician engagement.
- Promote collaborative relationships with physicians to align services with patient needs.
Governance & Professional Development
- Represent the facility at corporate and industry meetings.
- Stay current with healthcare trends, reimbursement changes, and regulatory requirements.
- Uphold the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or Nursing degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior administrative/management role within an ambulatory surgery center or hospital surgical services environment.
- Proven leadership skills with ability to build physician relationships, engage staff, and drive operational success.
- Strong business acumen, including budgeting, financial analysis, and contract negotiations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
