Job Description:
Yaakuza Japanese & Thai Fusion is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Sushi Helper to join our dynamic team. This is a great opportunity for individuals passionate about Japanese cuisine, eager to learn, and ready to support our sushi chefs in creating beautiful, delicious dishes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist sushi chefs with food preparation (e.g., cutting vegetables, prepping fish).
- Ensure the prep station and kitchen areas remain clean and organized.
- Monitor and restock ingredients as needed.
- Maintain proper food handling, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Support plating, garnishing, and assembling sushi rolls during busy periods.
Requirements:
- 0-2 years of experience in food prep, preferably in a Japanese restaurant.
- Knowledge of basic sushi ingredients and preparation techniques.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Team player with good communication skills.
Compensation and Schedule:
- $15-18 per hour
- Shift: 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM (or until restaurant close)
- Part-time and flexible schedules available.
Restaurant Hours:
- Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM, 4:30 PM – 9:30 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Wednesday: Closed
