Role Summary/Purpose:
The SVP, Information Security Intelligence and Operations is an executive level position responsible for strategy and leadership of Synchrony Information Security’s Cyber Operations function. Within Cyber Operations are priority activities related to cyber intelligence, threat detection, security automation, security alert monitoring, incident response, and insider risk management. The selected candidate will design strategies and build teams capable of identifying, detecting and responding to today’s threats while working across Information Security, Technology and the broader business to anticipate and prepare for tomorrow’s threats.
Essential Responsibilities:
Set organizational strategy and operational rhythms for Information Security (IS) Operations’ functions, specifically Cyber Intelligence, Threat Detection, Security Automation, Joint Security Operations Center (JSOC) 24x7 Threat Monitoring and Incident Response, Cyber Threat Hunt, Insider Risk management and Investigations, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) monitoring.
Serve as the Chief Information Security Officer’s senior operational advisor for cyber intelligence and security incident response and incident management activities related to internal and third-party security incidents.
Collaborate with executive leadership for Physical Security and Fraud to facilitate fused threat management and response activities.
Disseminate threat intelligence to all levels of the business, including executive leaders and the Board, to properly inform stakeholders of cyber threats that may alter risk evaluations.
Responsible for advocating for and allocating budget supporting Cyber Operations; to include identification, onboarding, and oversight of suppliers providing technology or staff support.
Represent Synchrony at senior level information security sector and government forums, such as Financial Sector Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) events and with regulators as requested.
Develop key risk indicators and performance indicators to track the performance and efficiency of all activities within Cyber Operations.
Provide appropriate oversight of risk, compliance, and governance activities necessary to execute Cyber Operations processes, to include identification of process-risks, documentation and update of procedures, design and implementation of controls, and evidencing of sound operations.
Responsible for people management activities including performance management, compensation planning, organization design and staffing.
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, Computer Information Systems, or other related field and a minimum of 12 years of IT experience with a minimum of 10 years leadership experience.
Minimum 7 years in Information Security with demonstrated experience in Cyber Operations, incident response, intelligence, or threat management.
Minimum of 7 years of experience developing and executing strategic plans, influencing skills, managing complex program and leading collaborative relationships in a cross- functional team environment.
Superior decision-making skills.
Deep technical understanding of Information Security operations in Financial Services.
Superior oral, written, and client communication skills, as well as the ability to manage expectations of the business, clients, team members, management and external groups.
Desired Characteristics:
Industry recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, GCIH, GREM, CSIRT, ACE, EnCE strongly preferred.
Proven track record of acting as a strategic Information Security business partner with senior leadership.
Proven track record of leading and executing on critical business initiatives on-time and within budget.
Demonstrated effectiveness in driving change and working effectively across business boundaries.
Demonstrated competency aligning business strategy with IT technology\Information Security initiatives.
Grade/Level: 15
The salary range for this position is 200,000.00 - 330,000.00 USD Annual. This position is also eligible for an Annual Incentive Plan target of 25% of salary and an Annual Equity target of 25% of salary.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:

You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
