Technical Director (Project Engineering Manager) Haifa-Nazareth LRV
Job description
At Alstom, we build what millions depend on daily - rail transportation systems that can't afford to fail. We're more than 85,000 people worldwide creating the industry's most diverse portfolio: high-speed trains, metros, trams, maintenance services and integrated systems.
More Than a Job: A Mission
We are seeking a visionary Technical Director (Project Engineering Manager) to be located in Israel, who will lead, manage, and coordinate the design team for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system, ensuring full integration, consistency, compliance, and performance. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (civil works, MEP, railway systems), control technical consistency through robust interface management, and much more.
You’ll specifically take care of the overall technical integration of the railway systems and civil works, but also define and implement an effective design management process. This role demands strategic thinking, technical mastery, and the ability to align design excellence with operational performance, ensuring every project contributes to Alstom’s mission of sustainable mobility.
Your Role, Your Impact
- Lead and manage the consortium design team, driving the end-to-end design process for the Light Rail Transit system that will run on the 41km line from Haifa to Nazareth, ensuring scalability and compliance with international standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including civil, electrical, and systems engineering to achieve integrated design solutions; you will be in charge of defining the consortium master design schedule
- Ensure design reliability through rigorous application of systems engineering principles and digital design validation tools.
- Foster innovation by implementing BIM methodologies and advanced simulation tools to optimize project outcomes.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across global design teams through structured design reviews and lessons learned sessions.
You'll work with sharp, committed teams solving complex challenges that shape the future of mobility, ensuring seamless integration of business and technology.
What You Bring
- Advance University Degree in Engineering
- Strong understanding of rail systems integration, including signalling, traction power, and civil interfaces, with a clear understanding of RAMS requirements for large public railway systems.
- Expert knowledge in System Engineering, with at least one experience in an international railway project
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary design reviews and manage design risk through structured governance frameworks.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to align technical teams and client expectations, with English fluency.
How Success Is Measured
- On-time delivery of design packages aligned with project milestones and strategic goals.
- Effective collaboration and leadership across internal and external engineering teams.
- Reduction in design rework and improved efficiency through proactive issue resolution.
Alstom, A Great Place to Grow
- Work with cutting-edge digital engineering tools shaping the future of rail design.
- Contribute to global mobility transformation from a strategically positioned local office.
- Advance your career through continuous learning and international collaboration opportunities.
Here, progress isn't always easy but the impact is real. Because the scale is massive, the tasks are complex when the system runs, the train moves, and the city connects that feeling stays with you. And the legacy lasts.
