Georgia Power is seeking a skilled and dedicated Instrument and Controls Technician to join our team at Plant Robins CT. The energy industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, particularly in the Georgia region, and we are excited to be a part of the solution.
Plant Robins CT site is located on Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA. and is a “black start” resource for the Air Force Base and the Southern Company electric system. Plant Robins also serves as a quick response peaking plant, that provides the necessary generation and transmission support for the area during peak load demands. Two (2) GE 7EA combustion turbines capable of running on natural gas and fuel oil; with 3M gallons of ultra-low sulfur diesel onsite fuel storage capability. As an I&C Technician, you will play an integral role in the performance of our generating units, contributing to the production of energy that is vital to our community.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical and analytical services essential to the control systems and associated equipment (electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic) for the operation of Plant Robins. This includes troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing control systems and instrumentation, such as the MarkVIe turbine control system, Bentley Nevada, and various electrical circuits. You will also be responsible for maintaining transmitters, valves, and meters, including temperature, pressure, level, and flow devices, etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair tasks on control systems, including MarkVIe and Bentley Nevada, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Maintain and repair electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls, ensuring accurate monitoring and diagnostics of plant equipment.
- Inspect, test, calibrate, and repair various electrical circuits and instrumentation, including transmitters, valves, and meters.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to temperature, pressure, level, and flow devices to ensure accurate readings and reliable operation.
- Utilize MAXIMO® for tracking maintenance activities, inventory management, and work order processing.
- Collaborate with plant operations to optimize system performance and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and enhance system reliability.
- Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, measurement, and test equipment in the performance of duties.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and reliability.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and procedures while performing maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree from a certified technical institution or military equivalent required.
- Proven experience as an Instrument and Controls Technician, preferably in a power plant or industrial setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining the MarkVIe turbine control system and Bentley Nevada systems in desired.
- Strong knowledge of electrical circuits and instrumentation, including transmitters, valves, and meters. preferred
- Familiarity with Maximo or similar maintenance management systems is a plus.
- General knowledge of power plant operations and processes is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Must be able to interpret electrical prints; functional logic diagram experience is a plus.
- Candidate must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer applications.
- Must be able to walk and work on grading that may include high elevations.
- Must be able to support a 24/7 work schedule, including weekend and holiday shift work when necessary.

- Successful completion of the Technical Aptitude Test for Instrument & Controls Technicians.
