Job Overview
Hunter Oil is a family-owned distributor of oil and lubricants and we have been in business since 1956, serving customers in the industrial, automotive and commercial industries. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Territory Sales professional to join our team and cover our major Alabama region (mid AL and up). You must live in the Birmingham area and will report to our Irondale, AL location daily. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales growth within your designated territory by identifying new business opportunities and nurturing existing client relationships and gain market share. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in OUTSIDE sales and demonstrate expertise in lead generation, account management, and upselling strategies.
This position offers unlimited earning potential through a base salary ($80,000, plus based on experience) and uncapped commission. Vehicle and cell phone reimbursement included.
Duties
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve territory sales targets.
- Identify and qualify leads through various channels, including networking, referrals, and market research.
- Make consistent onsite cold calls and phones calls within the specific region on a regular cycle.
- Must enjoy cold calling to gain new prospects; 10-12 calls per day - REQUIRED.
- Conduct presentations and product demonstrations to potential clients, showcasing the benefits our products and service.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals, weekly orders and ensuring timely follow-up and communication.
- Collaborate with internal teams to provide feedback on market trends, customer needs and share best practices.
- Collaborate with sales representatives from different territories to share best practices and support a cohesive sales approach

- Monitor competitor activities and market developments to identify new opportunities for business growth.
- Prepare regular reports on sales activities, pipeline status, and forecasts for management review.
- Achieve or exceed targeted sales goals and meet deadlines
Experience
- Proven experience in territory sales or outside sales, 2-3 years required. Experience in the oil and lubricant industry is a plus.
- Strong skills in lead generation, direct sales, and business development.
- Excellent account management abilities with a focus on customer retention and upselling.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for achieving targets.
Skills and other Requirements
- Competent with all Microsoft Suite products (particularly Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); as well as AI programs.
- Adaptable to changing market conditions.
- Verifiable work history and success building and maintaining relationships.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work history.
- Valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to travel overnight; 1-2 times per month.
- Ability to make small deliveries to customer in emergency situations
- Successful candidates must not be under a non-compete agreement in similar industries
