We are currently looking for a reliable and experienced On-Call Traffic Control Specialist / Flagger to support our field operations. This role involves the setup, management, and removal of traffic safety equipment at construction and roadside work zones. The selected individual will help direct vehicles and pedestrians safely around active sites, contributing to the protection of both the work crew and the general public. This is an outdoor, hands-on position suited for those with strong safety awareness and a proactive attitude.
What You’ll Do
Deploy and retrieve temporary traffic control devices such as cones, signs, barriers, and message boards in accordance with local and state guidelines
Perform flagging duties using stop/slow paddles or hand signals to manage traffic through and around job areas
Maintain a visible and organized work zone to help ensure smooth traffic flow and worker protection
Identify and report any unsafe conditions or incidents to supervisors in a timely manner
Adapt quickly to changing traffic patterns, weather, or emergency conditions as needed
Key Qualities We’re Looking For

Ability to stay focused and calm in high-traffic or high-pressure environments
A safety-first mindset with an eye for detail and commitment to compliance
Dependability and readiness to perform physical work in various weather conditions
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in traffic control or related field
Valid VDOT Basic or Intermediate Work Zone Safety Training & Flagger Certification
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays, based on project needs
