Job Overview

The Training Coordinator and Early Childhood Coach
is a full-time, exempt hybrid position that integrates relationship-based coaching, professional development facilitation, and strategic community engagement. This role is designed to support the growth and development of individual early childhood educators while also contributing to statewide efforts to build capacity within Minnesota’s early childhood education field.


The ideal candidate will bring a strong equity focus and a deep commitment to inclusive, culturally responsive learning. They will have experience in training and adult facilitation, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to support diverse learners at various stages in their early childhood careers. Bilingual fluency in Spanish is preferred. The successful candidate will thrive in collaborative, reflective environments and demonstrate a thoughtful, community-centered approach to their work.


Please note that this position will be coaching-heavy during its initial phase, as training and community engagement components continue to evolve. As CICC’s strategic needs shift, the responsibilities of this role will also change. Future updates to the job description will reflect any such changes to maintain alignment with the organization's goals and program development.


Key Responsibilities

Coaching (50%)

  • Provide direct coaching to early childhood educators focused on inclusion, infant/toddler development, and health & safety practices.
  • Establish reflective, strengths-based coaching relationships aligned with CICC's coaching model.
  • Support program improvement through modeling, joint planning, and reviewing progress.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation using internal systems and the Develop platform.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and coaching team meetings.
  • Recognize existing strengths of educators and build positive, reflective mentor/coaching relationships, adapting to diverse learning styles.
  • When assigned a program, reach out to the program within 48 hours and establish planned weekly or every other week coaching sessions.
  • Electronic calendars are to be kept up to date. Once programs are scheduled enter the event on your calendar noting when the program is in person.
  • Work interactively on a weekly or bi-weekly basis with early childhood educators to jointly develop and implement plans to meet ongoing goals.
  • Provide hands-on support and modeling as well as observation and reflective feedback to promote goals.
  • Assist those being coached to structure environments, routines and interactions that contribute to positive social-emotional outcomes for the children and families in a program.
  • Assist the coaching participant to identify resources and supplies in accordance with individual plans and related program needs.
  • Connect programs, families, and individuals to community partners to access external support when needed.

Training & Leadership Development (30%)

  • Design and facilitate small group learning communities and professional development sessions for early childhood educators in the state of Minnesota .
  • Offer individualized training to programs in the state of Minnesota .
  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate and enhance training content using adult learning

Principles.

  • Provide an advanced level of Relationship Based Professional Development to programs, assisting early childhood professionals and programs in gaining skills in promoting and implementing inclusion, health and safety, and/or infant and toddler best practices.
  • Follow privacy and ethical guidelines for sharing information on programs, staff, children, families, and employees.
  • Follow all mandated reporting laws for child abuse and neglect.
  • Recruit Early Childhood programs to participate in the Center for Inclusive Child Care’s program.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Outreach & Program Engagement (10%)

  • Conduct outreach and build culturally responsive relationships with providers across Greater Minnesota and bilingual communities.
  • Represent CICC at partner events, information sessions, and community engagements.


Internal Team Support & Peer Leadership (10%)

  • Provide mentoring and support to new or developing coaches.
  • Contribute to the development of internal tools, resources, and documentation processes.

  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital documentation systems.
  • Skilled at using technology for communication, learning resource development, and data management.

  • Models professionalism in alignment with CICC's mission and values.

  • Committed to ongoing learning, self-reflection, and adaptability in coaching and training practices.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field (minimum of 6 ECE credits required).
  • At least 5 years of experience in early childhood education settings.
  • Minimum of 3 years training early childhood educators, coaching, mentoring, or consultation.
  • Experience in program leadership, supervision, or coordination roles.
  • Eligible to be endorsed for RBPD endorsement in Inclusion, Infant/Toddler, or Health & Safety. Endorsement process will begin on the first day of hire.
  • Valid Minnesota driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Parent Education, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field.
  • MACMH-IEC Endorsement® at Level 2 or above, or agrees to complete MACMH endorsement within 3 months of meeting requirements.
  • Completion of the Minnesota Relationship-Based Professional Development (RBPD) Credential.
  • Knowledge of Minnesota child care licensing and programmatic requirements in the early care and education system in Minnesota.
  • Eligible for RBPD endorsement in Inclusion, Infant/Toddler, or Health & Safety.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish (Preferred)


Travel & Expected Hours of Work

  • Requires approximately 60% statewide travel throughout Minnesota to support coaching, outreach, and training delivery.
  • Includes independent travel for site visits, events, and meetings; occasional overnight stays may be required.
  • Core hours are Monday through Friday, with flexibility for evening and weekend training.
  • Preferred location for this role is the Twin Cities metro area, to support in-person meetings, onboarding, and team collaboration.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to work in both office-based and remote settings.
  • Prolonged periods of computer and phone use.
  • Light physical activity including lifting up to 15 pounds and intermittent movement.
