Job Summary:
We are seeking one full-time Unit Clerk to join our team at College Medical Center Phoenix. The Unit Clerk provides clerical support to licensed and non-licensed staff in the patient care units and assists with direct patient care as needed.
Job Qualifaications:
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic medical terminology
- Basic computer skills
- Courteous and empathetic interactions with patients and family members, both by telephone and in person
- Reconciles hospital billing with documentation in the patient's medical record accurately and in a timely manner
- Meets with the attending physician on a weekly basis to discuss the patient's plan of care
- Effectively coordinates with case managers and therapists regarding the completion of treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans on a regular basis
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of Medicare guidelines and policies as they pertain to admission criteria and medical necessity for continued treatment
- Answers the telephone in a courteous and efficient manner, responding accurately to all requests for information and routing calls to appropriate staff members
- Completes daily census and revenue forms; assists in processing billing forms
- Assists in the preparation of all weekly and monthly reports, as assigned
- Maintains an adequate quantity of forms, materials, supplies, and equipment inventory on the unit
- Assists in the admission process by connecting with the business office and admitting office; gathers relevant descriptive and financial information as needed, and either routes information to appropriate hospital personnel or admits the patient through the hospital computer system

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix, in good faith, believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
