The position of Relationship Banker is responsible for all new account transactions; assisting customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services including retirement accounts, establishing direct deposit and assisting customer’s queries concerning the Bank's services; cross-selling the Bank’s products and services; opening, maintaining and closing of all account types; performing branch clerical duties; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. The position is also required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in the area of teller operation function.
The essential duties included but are not limited to:
- Provides support to all assigned areas of branch operations where service or assistance is needed, including new accounts, and other areas of basic branch operations.
- Assists consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products, and financial services available from the Bank; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques. Have a general knowledge on DDA, Savings, Money Markets, Certificates of Deposits, and IRA’s.
- Interviews customers to obtain information; establishes proper identification of new customers; verifies validity of presented documents, determines need and extent of additional information.
- Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); checks banking history through chexsystem; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts and certificate of deposits for processing, and if needed, makes arrangements for direct deposits.
- Utilizes various software to process account activity, perform account maintenance, determine balances, and resolve problems within given authority.
- Provides customer service by answering customer questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues. Issues official checks.
- Receives deposits and ensures that all accounts are properly processed; receives and processes stop payment and holds orders. Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; promotes the bank through outside activities.
- At some locations, and as needed responsible for:
- Cash transactions, night deposit, courier processing, change orders, loan payments and customer transactions.
- Responsible for monitoring and maintaining cash recycler limit.
- Process various daily reports (e.g., currency transaction, returned items, callbacks, etc.) Can understand and analyze the kiting prevention reports.
- Processes wire transfer requests, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, ATM/Debit Card requests; issue temporary debit cards, scans all documents and save in the designated location; prepares correspondence to customers.
- Answers telephone and emails from customers; answers the questions or directs customer to appropriate team associate. Resolve customer complaints in a tactful, effective manner, and explains policies.
- Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
Qualifications
MUST HAVE PREVIOUS BANKING EXPERIENCE - Preferably in a Community Banking environment
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. (preferred)
- Work related experience should consist of cash handling and customer service background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
Knowledge & Communication Skills
- Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services.
- Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.
- Intermediate experience, knowledge and training in branch operation activities, terminology and products and services.

- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and team members.
Analytical & Decision-Making Skills
- Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work with little to no supervision while performing duties.
Computer/Software/Other Equipment Skills
- Basic knowledge of Office365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
