Hill’s US Professional Veterinary Affairs Internship

The Opportunity: Professional Veterinary Affairs Internship

This is an exceptional 10-week internship for a highly motivated second-year veterinary student seeking an immersive experience within the animal health industry. As an integral part of the Hill’s US Professional Veterinary Affairs (US-PVA) team, you will gain invaluable insights into the multifaceted role of veterinarians in a corporate setting.
The US-PVA team serves as the vital link between Hill's Pet Nutrition and the veterinary profession. We are responsible for the on-the-ground execution of initiatives that champion Hill's mission, nutritional philosophy, and product portfolio. Our team directly engages with academic institutions, corporate partners, and private practices, leveraging the diverse expertise of our veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
This internship offers a comprehensive rotational experience designed to provide a broad understanding of the various departments and functions that contribute to our success. You will contribute to our team in Kansas City and gain exposure to global operations and customers.

What You Will Experience

During your 10-week internship, you will gain hands-on exposure and learn from experts across key areas, including:
  • Veterinary Consultation Service: Understanding direct support for veterinary professionals.
  • National Veterinary Conference: Participating in key industry events.
  • Customer Development Team (Sales): Learning about strategic customer engagement.
  • US Professional & Veterinary Affairs: Deep diving into the core functions of the US-PVA team.
  • US Marketing: Observing the development and execution of marketing strategies.
  • Global Growth & Innovation Teams: Gaining insight into product development and market expansion.
  • Global Professional and Veterinary Affairs Team: Understanding the global reach of veterinary initiatives.
  • Pet Nutrition Center: Interacting with our "pet partners" and research efforts.
  • Claims: Learning about product claims and regulatory considerations.
  • Food Shelter Love Program: Engaging with our impactful community outreach initiatives.
This experience is designed to expand your perspective on the diverse career paths available with a veterinary degree.

Who We Are Looking For

We seek an enthusiastic, high-achieving second-year veterinary student who possesses:
  • Academic Excellence: Demonstrated strong academic standing (resume and unofficial transcript required).
  • Current Enrollment: Must have an undergraduate degree and be in your second year of veterinary school.
  • Positive & Proactive Mindset: Exhibits integrity, a strong willingness to learn, and a positive attitude.
  • Analytical Acumen: Possesses strong critical and analytical thinking skills, coupled with keen research abilities.
  • Innovative Spirit: Eager to explore new ideas and technologies to develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Strong Communication: Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Digital Proficiency: Aptitude for effective digital and social media communication.


Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $36.00 - $38.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
