Position Description:
As a member of the Virtual Design Construction (VDC) team, the VDC Coordinator performs a variety of tasks related to the 3D coordination of mechanical piping, plumbing, and sheet metal construction.
- Responsible for independently taking architectural and engineering contract documents and creating mechanical 3D drawings to ensure coordination with other trades are clash-free
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds VHV productivity and quality standards
- Establish a strong rapport with the customer, general contractor, subcontractors and the Project Manager with a goal to establishing a strong working relationship with everyone involved
- Ensure that all activities are in line with the design and specifications of the project
Competencies:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Five plus years experience in mechanical and HVAC industry
- Possess strong practical problem-solving skills
- Ensure conformance to all company, customer, state and federal safety regulations
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, architectural drawings and construction documentation
- Ensure all applicable local and state codes and standards are being adhered to
- Ability to recognize and report all unsafe working conditions
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to read and use various measuring devices
- Knowledge of relevant safety equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to meet company, VOSHA and OSHA standards
- Adhere to VHV’s policies and procedures while representing and promoting the company in a professional manner
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Produce accurate 3D models from contract drawings and red line / marked up original using Autodesk Revit, Fabrication and Navisworks
- Produce coordination shop drawings per VHV SOP and project specifications
- Extract information from the coordinated Revit model for procurement and fabrication
- Maintain an organized file structure for all project information
- Use Project Management Software to manage contract drawings, shop drawings, submittals, specifications, coordination issues, and RFIs
- Participate with all members of the coordination process, including: VHV internal personnel, MEP managers/engineers, owner’s representative and the Project Design Team
- Attend project coordination meetings with GC and other sub-contractors
- Work with Project Managers and Foreman to generate spool drawings for prefabrication
- Review and understand project scope of work, blueprints, building codes and specifications to determine work details
- Review and understand all submittals for the project
- Create goodwill with the customer by being responsive to their concerns while going above and beyond to assist in meeting their needs
- Ensure all work performed is thorough and accurate
- Attend job site and office meetings related to assigned projects as needed
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Predominately sedentary light office position with high frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100%) of the workday
- Ability to travel
- Ability to hear and verbally communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to see well (either naturally or with correction)
- Use hands, fingers, and arms, to safely data entry
- Lift and carry office supplies or accounting boxes weighing 25 lbs or more
