Job description
We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who is excited to join a highly skilled team who is committed to providing compassionate care to our rescue dogs. This person will work side by side with our Veterinarians and Certified Vet Techs in our state of the art hospital. The primary job duties include anesthesia and surgery support, dental procedures, post op care, treatment provision, medical record documentation and communication with our staff, adopters, foster families and volunteers.

Job Types:
- Assist the veterinarian in medical procedures and surgeries.
- Administer medication and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Perform routine laboratory tests and analyses
- Take and develop X-rays
- Clean and maintain equipment and work areas
- Provide care for animals before and after surgery
- Provide care for shelter dogs in shelter environment.
- Transport, carry or walk dogs to and from shelter and clinic.
Skills:
- Knowledge of animal behavior and humane handling techniques
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills to interact with team members
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate record keeping
Requirements:
- Two years hands on Veterinary Assistant experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be a positive team player who loves dogs, adopters and your peers.

Schedule:
- 8-10 hour shift
- Day shift, typically Monday through Thursday, with occasional adjustments to work days scheduled based on needs of the organization

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
