Job Summary
We are seeking a calm and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year experience working in a veterinary clinic and is looking for a slower pace. It is essential that the candidate has an interest in holistic medicine for treating themselves and their animals or at a minimum is open to learning about such modalities.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, including animal acupuncture and chiropractic.
- Be proficient at drawing blood
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments.
- Process labwork including staining slides, running urinalysis and preparing specimen collection to go to lab.
- Perform TPR on patient and obtain medical history from clients
- Check clients out and book next appointment
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and medication administration.
- Participate in inventory management by tracking supplies and placing orders as needed.
Skills
- Proficient in animal handling techniques
- Knowledge of veterinary practices, including laboratory procedures, and blood draws.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with clients and team members in a calm, professional and friendly manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
