Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering high-quality care to animals. You will be responsible for assisting with various tasks in a veterinary clinic setting, ensuring the well-being of pets while facilitating a positive experience for pet owners.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for both the animal and staff.
- Provide basic veterinary critical care support as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and examination rooms.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes or concerns promptly.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices and post-treatment care.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with team members and clients.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology to facilitate effective communication within the clinic.
- Proficiency in animal restraint techniques to ensure safe handling of various species.
- Experience or familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is highly desirable.
- Understanding of animal husbandry principles to promote optimal health and welfare.
- Basic knowledge of animal anatomy to assist in examinations and treatments.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or as a kennel assistant is beneficial but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with pet owners and team members alike.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
