Job description

Vulnerability Management Lead – 6-week contract – Outside of IR35 – Oxford/remote

My client is looking for a hands-on Vulnerability Management Lead to take ownership of vulnerability identification, prioritisation and remediation across a large IT estate.

The business is preparing for Cyber Essentials Plus and requires someone who can use Rapid7 to identify vulnerabilities, analyse findings and create a clear remediation plan for infrastructure engineers to execute across multiple sites.

Essential Skills from the Vulnerability Management Lead:

  • Strong Vulnerability Management / Vulnerability Remediation experience.
  • Hands-on Rapid7 / InsightVM experience.
  • Strong vulnerability scanning, assessment and remediation knowledge.
  • Experience producing and interpreting Rapid7 reports.
  • Strong understanding of endpoint/software vulnerabilities and patching.
  • Experience creating remediation processes and technical remediation plans.
  • Experience working with infrastructure/engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Essentials / Cyber Essentials Plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on "doer" rather than purely governance-focused.

Key Responsibilities of the Vulnerability Management Lead:

  • Use Rapid7 to run, analyse and report on vulnerability scans.
  • Identify, validate and prioritise vulnerabilities based on risk/severity.
  • Produce actionable vulnerability and remediation reports.
  • Map vulnerabilities to affected devices, applications and sites.
  • Develop and maintain a structured vulnerability remediation process.
  • Create remediation plans and technical actions for engineering teams.
  • Coordinate remediation across multiple sites/endpoints.
  • Track remediation through to closure and re-scan to validate fixes.
  • Identify issues such as vulnerable/unsupported software, outdated versions, missing patches and insecure configurations.
  • Support Cyber Essentials Plus audit readiness and remediation.
  • Improve vulnerability management processes and reporting.

The Vulnerability Management Lead is required to work remote with potential travel between the South West and South East of England.
