Summary
Directs and coordinates activities of warehouse and production department(s) in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
· Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
· Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
· Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
· Establishes operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory current.
· Develop methods and procedures for the transportation of outgoing goods to customers, division transfers, and subcontracted suppliers.
· Inspects physical condition of warehouse and equipment.
· Confers with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities with activities of other functions such as production, sales, records control and purchasing.
· Work with freight companies to determine most efficient and economical routing and modes of transportation; negotiating service rates/contracts.
· Directs claims on salvage of damaged or used material from freight companies.
· Assign workers to specific duties, such as verification of incoming and outgoing commodities, issuing of materials to production departments, pulling and packaging of customer orders for shipment
· Monitors inventory control quantities and locations
· Inventory cycle counting
· Work with other departments to improve order and warehouse variances
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees on production floor in all departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Applies company employee/labor relations policies in all dealings with employees.
