Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team in Colorado Springs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all welding activities meet the applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and safety regulations. This is a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of welded components used in various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform visual inspections of welds and welded assemblies.
- Verify compliance with Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and applicable codes (e.g., AWS D1.2/D1.2M).
- Develop, maintain, and review welding procedures, welder qualification records, and inspection documentation.
- Monitor welding processes for adherence to quality, safety, and technical standards.
- Document inspection results and generate accurate reports for internal use and client delivery.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, QA, fabrication, and management teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Identify and ensure corrective actions are implemented for non-conformance findings.
- Participate in quality audits, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct welder performance qualification testing per AWS D1.2 Structural Welding Code – Aluminum.
- Stay informed on industry best practices, standards, and certifications.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in welding inspection or quality control.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS codes and welding standards.
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, welding symbols, and inspection tools.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Experience with ISO quality systems and documentation standards.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and alongside welding teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capable of working independently or in team settings.
- Physically capable of climbing, bending, and lifting during inspections.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CWE (Certified Welding Educator) credentials (preferred but not required).
- Previous hands-on welding experience is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
