Position Overview:
We’re looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Wine Manager & Buyer to lead the wine program at Refined Wines & Spirits. As the sole buyer, you’ll be responsible for building our entire wine selection from the ground up. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on discovering exceptional value, curating memorable experiences, and engaging with customers in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the wine buyer for the store; build and manage a world-class wine inventory
- Establish strong relationships with distributors to source wines with the best quality-to-price ratio
- Curate custom wine cases for customers, private events, dinners, and corporate gifting
- Write tasting notes and product descriptions for shelf tags and our online store
- Host in-store weekend wine tastings to engage and educate customers
- Provide concierge-level service by guiding customers to their perfect bottle
- Train team members on new wines, producers, and sales techniques
- Monitor sales trends and optimize inventory based on customer demand
- Collaborate with the marketing team for featured wines and educational content
Who You Are:
- 1+ years of wine buying, retail wine sales, or sommelier experience
- Strong understanding of wine regions, varietals, and global producers
- Ability to spot great value across price points—from everyday bottles to collectible gems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confident hosting tastings and engaging with a diverse customer base
- Organized, self-motivated, and excited to build something from the ground up
- WSET certification or similar wine education preferred
