Position Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Workers’ Compensation Collections Specialist with hands-on experience in New York Workers’ Compensation processes. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in handling NODs (Notices of Decision), C-4.3 forms (Doctor’s Report of MMI/Permanent Impairment), C-8 forms (Carrier Objections), and IME (Independent Medical Examination) documentation. This role is critical in ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered under NY Workers’ Compensation claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and follow up on outstanding Workers’ Compensation claims to ensure timely collections.
- Review and process C-4.3, C-8, and IME documentation in compliance with NY Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) regulations.
- Respond to NODs and other WCB correspondence, coordinating with legal and clinical teams as needed.
- Communicate with insurance carriers, attorneys, and the Workers’ Compensation Board to resolve claim issues and denials.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all claim activity and correspondence.
- Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to ensure proper documentation and timely submission of required forms.
- Monitor claim status and appeal denied or underpaid claims as appropriate.
- Generate reports on collections performance and outstanding balances for internal review.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in NY Workers’ Compensation billing and collections in a medical setting.
- Strong knowledge of NY WCB forms and procedures, including C-4.3, C-8, IMEs, and NODs.
- Familiarity with medical billing software and EHR systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with orthopedic, pain management, or physical therapy practices.
- Knowledge of lien processes and coordination with legal teams.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
