Position Summary:
New Mount Pilgrim Church-Chicago is seeking a Spirit-led, musically gifted, and committed Worship Band Director to serve as a key leader within our Worship & Arts Ministry. This individual will be responsible for overseeing all instrumental and vocal music associated with worship services and select church events, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and spiritual growth. This is a part-time, contract-based position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Weekly Rehearsals: Lead and facilitate weekly band rehearsals, ensuring preparedness and musical excellence for all Sunday worship services and special events.
- Teaching & Coaching: Provide musical instruction and coaching for both band members and vocalists. Support skill development, arrangement execution, and music literacy as needed.
- Collaborative Planning: Work closely with the Worship Pastor and production team to prepare and coordinate weekly worship sets, special services, and seasonal programs.
- Workshops & Training: Lead at least two workshops per year for the worship band and choir focused on musicianship, spiritual development, and team building.
- Service Leadership: Provide musical leadership during all worship services, ensuring a seamless and Spirit-filled worship experience.
- Special Ministry Engagements: Be available to serve for additional ministry events such as funerals, revivals, conferences, and other special services as needed.
- Team Culture: Help cultivate a spiritually grounded and artistically unified team through prayer, fellowship, and ongoing development.
- Logistics & Administration: Assist with scheduling, music distribution, and communication with team members. Ensure rehearsal materials are provided in a timely and organized manner.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in playing piano/keyboard/organ preferred.
- Strong understanding of gospel, contemporary Christian, and traditional church music.
- Ability to read, teach, and arrange music for both instruments and vocals.
- Experience leading and developing worship teams in a church or ministry setting.
- Effective communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
- A heart for ministry and a commitment to the spiritual and musical growth of the team.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $30,000.00 - $32,000.00 per year
