Position: Health Center Staffer
Location: YMCA Camp Letts – Edgewater, MD
Job Type: Seasonal / Part-Time / Temporary
Pay: $25.00 – $33.00 per hour
Hours: 10–40 hours/week (Monday–Friday, weekends as needed)
Employment Dates: June 2, 2025 – August 22, 2025
About the Role:
The Health Center Staff oversees the well-being of campers and staff, responding to health needs, managing medications, and ensuring a safe, supportive environment throughout the summer. This is a highly visible and valued role on our team and plays a critical part in delivering a safe and enriching camp experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer daily medications and conduct routine health checks
- Respond to illnesses, injuries, and emergencies in accordance with standing medical orders
- Maintain accurate health records, logs, and incident reports
- Monitor and support the physical and emotional well-being of campers and staff
- Communicate with parents, counselors, and directors regarding health concerns
- Manage and supervise the Health Center and its staff
- Keep the Health Center clean, stocked, and organized (including first aid kits across camp)
- Supervise health screenings during camper check-in
- Be available for on-call medical needs, off-site care transport, and inpatient needs
- Participate in camp activities, staff meetings, and all-staff trainings
- Collaborate with the Camp Director on camper-related concerns (e.g., behavior, homesickness)
- Maintain visibility on campgrounds and communicate whereabouts when away from the Health Center
- Support camp programming as needed
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Licensed/certified as one of the following in Maryland: Registered Nurse (RN), EMT, or Paramedic
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required
- Experience in emergency management or pediatric/urgent care settings preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working in an outdoor, fast-paced environment with children and young adults
