Direct Support Professional (DSP) – Full & Part-Time Awake and Sleep NOCs
Location: Staples, Motley, and Pillager, MN
Position Summary
We are seeking Full and Part-Time Direct Support Professionals to provide overnight support to adults with disabilities, chronic mental illness, and/or traumatic brain injuries in a residential setting.
Overnight DSPs are responsible for maintaining a safe and comfortable home throughout the night, supporting individual nighttime routines, completing required monitoring and documentation, and responding to needs that arise during the overnight hours. Awake NOC and Sleep NOC shifts are available.
Overnight Responsibilities
- Provide individualized support with nighttime routines and personal care needs
- Complete scheduled checks and monitor individuals throughout the overnight hours
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for individuals while they sleep
- Respond appropriately to individuals who wake during the night or need assistance
- Follow individual care plans and provide support based on each person’s needs
- Administer medications according to established procedures and medication schedules
- Observe and report changes in behavior, health, sleep patterns, or other concerns
- Respond calmly to behavioral, medical, or other unexpected situations
- Complete overnight documentation, progress notes, communication logs, and other required records
- Prepare the home for the upcoming day, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and other household tasks
- Maintain clean and organized common areas and bedrooms as appropriate
- Review communication from the previous shift and provide important updates to the incoming team
- Follow emergency procedures, safety protocols, 245D requirements, and individual support plans
- Promote dignity, independence, privacy, and respect while providing overnight support
- Work independently while remaining attentive and prepared to respond to changing needs
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a Minnesota DHS background study and pre-employment drug screening
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete documentation accurately
- Ability to follow state and company policies, including 245D requirements
- Ability to work independently and remain alert and attentive during overnight hours
Schedule Requirements
- Full and Part-Time positions available
- Awake NOC: 7PM–7AM
- Sleep NOC: 9PM–9AM
- Weekend and holiday availability required based on schedule
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required
- Awake NOC employees must remain awake and attentive for the entire shift
- Sleep NOC employees must be able to respond appropriately when support is needed during the overnight hours
