Job description

Our Client is a prestigious international company operating in the engineering and specialized consulting sector, with a strong presence in strategic projects within the environmental and marine fields.

FUNCTION

The main activities of the job include: to support the Project Manager in the planning, coordination and day-to-day delivery of project activities; to assist with mobilisation and demobilization of personnel, plant, equipment and subcontractors; to maintain and update project schedules, milestones, resource plans, progress trackers, and payment-related deliverables using Microsoft Project; to monitor activities against the project plan, identify potential delays or deviations, and escalate issues together with practical proposed solutions; coordinate project meetings, prepare agendas, record minutes, follow up on agreed actions, and support effective communication among internal teams, subcontractors and clients; assist with the preparation, review and consolidation of daily progress reports, weekly updates, KPI reports, field reports, preliminary execution reports and final project reports; support HSE and operational compliance processes, including inductions, onboarding documentation, site activity execution plans, job hazard and environmental assessments, risk assessments and related project records; to liaise with project personnel, vessel crews, port captains, subcontractors, client representatives and other relevant stakeholders; support vessel and marine operational coordination, including notifications, approvals and operational readiness requirements; assist in monitoring the quality and completeness of operational and technical deliverables, including verification that relevant field data and media are correctly recorded, stored and available before demobilization; to participate in daily operational debriefings and regular meetings with clients and subcontractors; handle sensitive or difficult discussions professionally, protect client relationships and communicate clearly across all organizational levels; to carry out other reasonable project coordination and administrative duties required for successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • A Degree or Diploma in Project Management, Business Management, Operations Management, Logistics, Engineering, Marine Studies, Environmental/Scientific Studies, or a related discipline;
  • Previous exposure to offshore, maritime, vessel-based, oil and gas, construction, logistics, or remote-site operations;
  • Experience preparing professional project reports, progress documentation, schedules and client-facing deliverables;
  • Relevant experience in project coordination, operations coordination, logistics, project administration, marine/offshore operations or a comparable operational environment;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office & Project Controls Skill;
  • Very strong proficiency and practical experience across the Microsoft 365 suite is required, with particular emphasis on: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word and Outlook;
  • Experience with Primavera P6 will be considered an advantage;
  • Strong written and spoken English / Portuguese is required;
  • Understanding of HSE principles, risk assessment processes and operational compliance requirements;
  • Strong emotional intelligence, maturity and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate naturally and professionally with people at all levels, from site and vessel crews to senior management and clients;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle difficult conversations diplomatically, manage expectations and maintain constructive working relationships;
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset (able to identify risks or issues early and present practical, considered solutions);
  • Good organizational skills, personal discipline and ability to manage competing priorities under pressure;
  • Ability to work with limited supervision (after an initial onboarding and coaching period);
  • Familiarity with the Afungi environment, LNG project operations, or working in Cabo Delgado;
  • Being a Mozambican National is an advantage.
