Role Overview

We are seeking a reliable, disciplined, and service-oriented Kitchen Steward / Kitchen Assistant to support the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

The ideal candidate should have experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, private clubs, or other high-end hospitality environments, with a strong understanding of elevated cleanliness, hygiene, food safety, and operational standards. The role will also provide support with basic food preparation and kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene across the kitchen, work surfaces, equipment, and floors.
  • Wash, sanitise, dry, and properly store kitchen utensils, cookware, and service items.
  • Operate and maintain dishwashing equipment appropriately.
  • Support basic food preparation, including peeling, chopping, and ingredient preparation.
  • Assist with receiving, organising, and properly storing kitchen supplies.
  • Ensure kitchen stations are properly set up, stocked, and maintained during service.
  • Dispose of kitchen waste appropriately and maintain clean waste areas.
  • Report equipment maintenance or repair requirements promptly.
  • Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
  • Comply with all food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and health and safety standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in a Kitchen Steward, Kitchen Assistant, Dishwasher, or similar role.
  • Previous experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, premium restaurants, hotels, or private members' clubs is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment, hygiene, and food safety procedures.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and perform routine lifting and carrying.
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a professional kitchen team.
  • Willingness to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
