Your day-to-day / Āu mahi ia te rā
As our Test Automation Engineer, you'll help shape the quality of Lotto NZ's digital experiences by building and evolving the automation capabilities that support fast, reliable software delivery. You'll work closely with developers, testers, and delivery teams to create robust test automation solutions, improve CI/CD processes, and ensure our platforms perform seamlessly for New Zealanders every day. You'll combine technical expertise with problem-solving and innovation, helping us reduce manual effort, increase delivery confidence, and continuously raise the bar for quality engineering.
You’ll:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks and regression suites.
- Partner with software delivery teams to improve quality, speed, and reliability across our digital products.
- Enhance automation within our CI/CD pipelines and investigate opportunities to optimise performance and efficiency.
- Analyse issues, identify automation improvements, and help solve complex quality challenges.
- Champion a test-driven culture and support Lotto NZ's shift towards smarter, more automated testing practices.
Your team / Tō rōpū:
You'll be joining a collaborative Software Engineering team that plays a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality digital experiences for Lotto NZ customers. Working closely with developers, testers, architects, and delivery teams, you'll help embed automation and quality engineering practices across the software delivery lifecycle. The team is focused on continuous improvement, modern engineering practices, and finding smarter ways to deliver quality at speed.
As our Test Automation Engineer, you'll be at the centre of our journey towards increased automation, helping shape frameworks, improve CI/CD processes, and build confidence in every release. It's a role where you'll have the opportunity to influence how quality is delivered, explore new technologies, and contribute to solutions that support our 24/7 digital services.
- The team works in a flexible, hybrid way, balancing in-office collaboration with time to focus at home.
- It's a supportive team where people share ideas openly and help each other learn and grow.
How we work in tech:
- We work in a collaborative, supportive way where everyone has a voice.
- You’ll be part of a team that shares ideas openly, works closely across roles, and focuses on delivering outcomes rather than hierarchy.

- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset that helps teams succeed together.
- We recognise that skills and experience can be gained in many ways, including through education, paid and unpaid work, mahi aroha (volunteering), local churches, marae, community groups, and other life experiences.
