Job SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer III is responsible for establishing and coordinating the implementation of effective and economical methods for manufacturing operations. Essential Job Functions
- Follows and supports all of the Company’s safety, quality and company policies.
- Plans and coordinates preparation of project documentation such as engineering drawings, BOM, production specifications and routings, to ensure product and process requirements are met.
- Designs and directs installation of mechanical or electromechanical products or plant systems.
- Designs tooling and fixtures for production processes.
- Directs and coordinates activities involved in acquisition and installation of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
- Coordinates preparation of project documentation such as engineering drawings, production specifications and schedules to ensure project requirements are met.
- Independently analyzes product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine product characteristics which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing equipment and methods.
- Provides technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
- Confers with operating personnel to create and implement operating procedures and resolve system malfunctions. Develops models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components and recommends implementation of improved procedures.
- Confers with engineering and shop personnel to resolve design problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost.
- Coordinates engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation, and calibration of equipment, and control devices required to support the production process.
- Develops and writes equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposal for integrating machinery and equipment into manufacturing process. Prepares or directs preparation of process layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Complete detail drawings utilizing current CAD technologies to request parts fabrication by machine shops. Uses computer assisted engineering and design software to write operating programs for equipment, to develop tooling designs and CNC programs for unique one of kind processes.
- Plans and develops experimental test programs under operational conditions to investigate process proposals for improving equipment performance or other factors.
- Analyzes work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts, and production schedules, to determine efficient utilization of workers and equipment.
- Mentors and develops MEI and MEII.
- Performs special projects as directed.
- Complete other duties assigned by management.
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working as manufacturing engineer.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to ITAR Compliance.
- Precision manufacturing experience or exposure.
- Aerospace experience.
- Competent with reviewing, editing and creating Manufacturing Engineering Operations Processes (MEOPs).
- Requires strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM systems required.
- SPC experience required.
- Knowledge and understanding of GD&T, heat treat processes.
- Experience working with various metals.
- CNC controls and programming are preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to plant management and executive management.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer specifications.
- Ability to reduce cost through better manufacturing processes.
- Ability to lead and train others (e.g. production operators, interns, co-ops, MEI).
- Ability to do time studies.
- Time management proficiency.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
- Regular on-site presence at Hanover, PA location.
- Work is performed in an office environment while supporting manufacturing and industrial environment.
