Senior Flutter Engineer - Android Windowing Support

We're looking for a Senior Flutter Engineer to join our team in Kraków, Wrocław, or Gdańsk in a hybrid working mode.

In this role, you will be responsible for extending Flutter’s Android platform capabilities to support multi-view and windowing features. The position focuses on enhancing Flutter internals and the engine layer to leverage emerging Android windowing APIs across mobile, desktop, and XR environments.

You will collaborate with internal teams and the open-source community to evolve Flutter’s existing single-view model into a robust multi-view architecture. This work contributes to the broader cross-platform ecosystem, enabling more immersive, multi-window experiences across Android and new form factors.

Responsibilities

• Implement multi-view and windowing support in Flutter’s Android embedding layer
• Extend the platform to handle multiple simultaneous views across devices and environments
• Incorporate community designs such as multi-view-on-android-ios into Flutter’s Android codebase
• Integrate emerging Android Windowing APIs for various device categories, including Traditional Android (e.g., Multi-Instance Intents), Aluminium OS environments (e.g., Window composables), and Android XR (e.g., Orbiters)
• Collaborate with Flutter engine maintainers and Google’s open-source community
• Ensure stable integration across Flutter engine components and plugins
• Conduct rigorous testing and performance optimization for new windowing functionality
• Contribute to architecture documentation and engineering proposals for long-term maintainability

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience with Flutter internals and engine-level development
• Deep understanding of Android platform architecture, lifecycle, and native APIs
• Knowledge of Java/Kotlin and familiarity with C++ code interfacing in Flutter’s engine
• Experience implementing multi-window or multi-instance features on Android
• Proficiency in performance profiling, debugging, and rendering optimizations in Flutter apps
• Familiarity with open-source collaboration and version control (Git)
• Fluent English communication skills for cross-team and community interactions (B2 level or higher)
