Arbetsbeskrivning

Studies show that women and underrepresented groups often hesitate to apply unless they meet every requirement. At Stegra, we’re building an impact-driven, sustainable company - and we need a diverse, inclusive team to make it happen.

If you share our passion but don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might be the perfect fit for this role, or another as we grow.

At Stegra, we’re not just building a plant, we’re proving that sustainable industry is possible. And to do that, we need people like you.

Join a team where safety comes first. Where we support each other, learn as we go, and make space for everyone to grow and contribute. This is your chance to be part of something big - while being closer to nature and leading a balanced, purposeful life.

Right now, we are looking for a Shift Manager for our Planning & Shipping team. The team is responsible for safely and efficiently packaging, storing and shipping finished steel products while meeting production, quality and delivery targets.

Specific to this role, the day-to-day tasks will include the following but as we are a growing company with very little silos between teams, other tasks might be included as well.

  • Lead, coordinate and support the shift team in the day-to-day operation of packaging lines, the coil warehouse and the shipping area, ensuring that volume, quality and schedule targets are met.
  • Ensure production equipment and processes are operated safely and efficiently, and that process parameters are monitored and adjusted using control panels and measurement instruments.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by following procedures, leading by example, addressing unsafe conditions and contributing to safety improvements.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting, corrective actions and collaboration with mechanical and electrical maintenance teams to minimise downtime and resolve equipment or quality issues.
  • Monitor production performance, respond to deviations, support root-cause analysis and identify opportunities to improve productivity, equipment performance and reduce waste.
  • Ensure accurate operational records, process data, production reports and inventory counts, and communicate relevant events and performance information to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and develop team members through effective delegation, task allocation and rotation across operational activities, while maintaining good housekeeping standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and departmental goals, including process-control improvement sessions, idea generation and other assignments required to support safe, stable and reliable operations.

What you’ll bring

You’re curious and believe that real progress happens when we work together. You’re not afraid to challenge old ways of thinking - and you treat others with respect while doing it. At Stegra, we value people who take initiative, build trust, and help create a workplace where everyone can do their best.

Specific to this role, we would like to see that you can tick off a fair amount of the boxes below

  • More than five years of relevant industrial experience, including at least two years of leadership experience; experience as a Shift Manager is preferred.
  • High school education in a relevant field or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience working with safety protocols and relevant regulations and standards in a heavy industrial environment; knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 is preferred.
  • Strong process knowledge and a good understanding of technical equipment, production processes and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lead, coach, mentor and empower colleagues, delegate effectively and build a strong safety culture.
  • Strong teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make decisions and remain solution-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant digital tools and systems, such as office, maintenance, information, follow-up and purchasing systems. Proficiency in English is required; Swedish is an advantage.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and perform effectively in a dynamic industrial environment involving noise, heat, dust, demanding conditions, PPE, climbing, working at heights and accessing confined spaces.

This is Stegra

Stegra is on a mission to change the global steel industry by producing green hydrogen, iron, and steel - with the goal of eliminating CO₂ emissions. Instead of coal, we use green hydrogen and fossil-free electricity, meaning our primary emissions will be water and heat.

By 2030, our ambition is to produce 5 million tonnes of green steel annually in our fully integrated, digitized, and sustainable plant in Boden, Northern Sweden - currently under construction. But this is just the beginning. Our expertise in green hydrogen will enable us to decarbonize industries beyond steel, paving the way for a cleaner future.

Our Boden Site

Our Boden site is located just west of Boden City, right in the heart of a growing green industrial hub in Northern Sweden. It’s where we’re building one of the world’s most modern, sustainable steel plants—designed with safety, efficiency, and people in mind. With just a 10-minute commute from town, you'll be close to both cutting-edge technology and the everyday convenience of living near nature, schools, and community life.
