Job Role: Backend Engineer (Java/Hadoop)

Location: Changi Business Park

Contract: 12 months (extandable)

We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer with strong Java and Hadoop expertise to support a Hadoop data layer modernization initiative. The successful candidate will be responsible for application enhancements, backend integration, platform migration activities, testing support, troubleshooting, and production stabilization within a distributed data processing environment.

Required Skillset:

• Strong Java backend development experience
• Hadoop ecosystem knowledge (HDFS and related technologies)
• Experience working with distributed data platforms and large-scale applications
• Spring Boot / Spring Framework
• REST API development
• Linux / Shell scripting
• Git, Bitbucket, Jira
• Troubleshooting, performance tuning, and production support experience
• Experience with storage platform migration or modernization projects is advantageous.

6. Identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues arising from platform changes.
8. Implement required backend enhancements and remediation work.

6. Design and implement code changes to support evolving platform requirements while preserving existing business functionality.
8. Backend Development & Integration
9. Develop and enhance Java backend services, APIs, and integration components.
11. Testing & Validation
12. Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and regression testing to ensure solution quality.
14. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
15. Investigate and resolve application defects, performance issues, and deployment challenges.
17. Deployment & Production Support
18. Support deployment activities, release validation, and post-implementation stabilization.
20. Documentation
21. Maintain technical documentation, implementation artifacts, and operational procedures.
23. Collaboration
24. Work closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and architecture teams to ensure successful delivery.

2. Successful completion of development of project objectives.
4. Successful completion of regression, considering both functional and performance testing
6. Support and follow through all deployment milestones.
8. Complete technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
