Airfreight Manager (Regional Procument) - East - WCDT

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute regional airfreight procurement strategies aligned with business objectives across South Asia, Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO).
• Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with key airlines, General Sales Agents (GSAs) and other carrier partners.
• Lead regional carrier sourcing, RFQ exercises, contract negotiations and annual rate reviews.
• Negotiate competitive freight rates, secure space commitments and optimise capacity allocation across key trade lanes.
• Manage and negotiate long-term agreements, Block Space Agreements (BSA), Capacity Purchase Agreements (CPA), ad hoc rates and tactical procurement arrangements.
• Monitor airfreight market developments, including capacity availability, pricing trends, airline network changes and market conditions.
• Analyse supply and demand across major trade lanes and develop appropriate carrier sourcing and procurement strategies.
• Develop contingency procurement and capacity plans to support peak seasons, market disruptions and urgent business requirements.
• Monitor contractual compliance and evaluate airline performance against agreed rates, capacity commitments, service levels and contractual obligations.
• Drive procurement initiatives to optimise cost efficiency, yield, margins, carrier utilisation and overall market competitiveness.
• Establish and implement regional procurement governance, standards and best practices across countries and business units.
• Develop carrier scorecards, KPIs and performance dashboards to track procurement savings, service quality, capacity utilisation and overall carrier performance.
• Conduct regular business reviews and performance discussions with strategic airline partners, driving corrective and improvement actions where required.
• Support major customer tenders, bids and commercial opportunities by securing competitive, reliable and scalable carrier solutions.
• Work closely with country airfreight teams, overseas offices, gateway operations, Finance and senior Management on procurement planning, budgeting and regional/global initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Aviation Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in airfreight procurement, airline management, freight forwarding or aviation commercial functions.
• Proven experience in airline negotiations, carrier sourcing, RFQ management and contract negotiations.
• Strong knowledge of air cargo market dynamics, pricing structures, capacity management, trade lanes and airline networks.
• Demonstrated track record in procurement cost optimisation, carrier/supplier management and securing competitive rates and capacity.
• Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking, with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficient in data analysis, procurement reporting and performance dashboard development.
• Excellent negotiation, influencing, communication and presentation skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple countries, functions and organisational levels.
• Highly results-oriented, self-motivated and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to undertake regional travel as required.
